A native Baltimorean, Mr. Lietzau attended the University of Maryland and received his early insurance training with major Baltimore insurance agency, then known as Riggs-Warfield-Roloson, where he was employed for eight years as a Casualty Underwriter.
With the exception of a two-year period when he served as Vice President & General Manager of Consolidated Insurance Center, Inc., Mr. Lietzau was with Tongue, Brooks & Company, Inc. from 1965 when he joined that firm to establish its Risk Analysis Department. Mr. Lietzau was elected a Vice President of Tongue-Brooks in 1975. He served as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer from 1984 to 1989 when he was elected President.
In January 1991, he, together with his son, purchased H.U. Dove & Company, Inc., an insurance agency and brokerage firm which enjoys a rich history spanning 160-plus years.
Mr. Lietzau has participated in numerous seminars on the subject of risk management and for a number of years was engaged by a major insurer for the classroom instruction of independent agents in the practical application of risk management techniques.
Mr. Lietzau is married, the father of two and the grandfather of six. Active as a member and former officer of Immanuel Lutheran Church, he served many years as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Lutheran High School Association until recently and remains an officer on the Board.

Principal and Vice President of the Maryland insurance brokerage firm H.U. Dove & Company, Inc., Mr. Lietzau is a 1982 graduate of Loyola College, Baltimore. His early professional education was purposefully broad, encompassing training and experience at both insurance agency and company levels.
Mr. Lietzau began his career in January 1983 with the Maryland Casualty Company in their Richmond, VA branch office, leaving in 1984 as an all-lines commercial property/casualty underwriter. He joined the firm Derek Bryant Insurance Brokers, Ltd. in London for two years as a broker, placing business at Lloyd's with other foreign markets principally on behalf of North American interests.
Upon returning to the United States at the end of 1986, Mr. Lietzau joined the firm of Tongue, Brooks & Company of Baltimore as an Account Executive responsible for some of the firm's larger commercial property/casualty clients. He left that firm in 1991, partnering with his father in the acquisition of H.U. Dove & Company, Inc. of Baltimore.
He holds the Associate in Underwriting (AU) designation conferred by the Insurance Institute of America. He has served as Chairman of the Insurance Roundtable of Baltimore and continues as an active member of that organization.
Mr. Lietzau holds Property & Casualty Insurance licenses in numerous states as agent and broker. He has been involved with both U.S. domestic and foreign exposures for a variety of industries.
Active in racquet sports and golf, Mr. Lietzau is married and the father of three, is past Chairman of the Board of Augsburg Lutheran Home of Maryland continues to be involved at the Board level, and has similarly served at the Board level with other non-profit organizations.
